LinkedIn Groups’ New Updates

LinkedIn Groups – they feel like they’ve slowly been abandoned and in decline. In contrast, Facebook, has a pretty buoyant groups functionality. But all might be about to change, when news broke that LinkedIn is finally giving Groups the attention it deserves.

LinkedIn says it has reconstructed Groups from the ground up, making them accessible in the main LinkedIn website and app. The overhauled Groups product also puts content inside the main news feed, instead of hiding it away in a different section.

Here’s a rundown of some of the new features:

  • Conversations: Users will now be able to post videos, images, and other rich embedded media.
  • Stay up to date: Push notifications will be introduced which means more traffic to LinkedIn, especially via mobile.
  • Native app focus: Admin functionality will be available in all group management actions from mobile, including messaging group members, accepting requests to join, or removing posts.

LinkedIn also hinted at some further upcoming features that will be added to Groups in the forthcoming months. Firstly, users will be able to find and navigate to groups from the main page. Secondly, users will be able to start and join conversations in groups right from LinkedIn’s main feed. Lastly, users will be able to find suggested groups based on a user’s network and interests from the My Network tab on desktop. Read the original article here.
